In college, Kelsey discovered drifting and was immediately drawn to motorsports. Learning to drift became not just an escape, but her passion.
Drifting opened up a new world for Kelsey. She began to compete in Pro-Am competitions, earning a Formula Drift Pro 2 license for the 2015 season. She drove her first year in Formula Drift Pro 2 in her ProAm car, a 2.2-liter MazWorx SR-powered S14 making only 500 hp. Her car had the lowest horsepower of any other car in the Formula Drift field, but that didn't stop her from qualifying in her first-ever Pro 2 competition.
Kelsey and her team built a new S14, powered by a supercharged Ford 5.0 Aluminator engine, for the 2016 season. While the new engine definitely made more competitive power and torque than the SR, it was the first time this engine had ever been put in an S14, which meant solving issues that arose.
Following some mechanical issues early on, Kelsey still managed to accumulate good results! She finished the 2020 season in 9th place and is looking forward to learning and improving upon her current skills as time goes on.
Kelsey plans to continue along her current path and hopes to compete in Formula Drift Pro in the near future.
